My Ocean Isle Beach Sheepshead Fishing Charter is a private 4-hour trip dedicated to targeting one of North Carolina's hardest-fighting inshore fish. Unlike a general inshore trip, the entire charter is focused on catching sheepshead.

We'll target productive structure like docks, bridge pilings, seawalls, oyster bars, and other areas where sheepshead feed during the prime April through November season.

Whether you're trying to catch your first sheepshead or your biggest one yet, you'll spend the day targeting one of the toughest and best-eating fish on the North Carolina coast.

This charter is limited to just two anglers because sheepshead fishing isn't a "sit back and wait" kind of trip. Accurate casts around docks, bridge pilings, seawalls, and oyster bars are critical, and limiting the trip to two anglers gives everyone plenty of room to fish while allowing me to provide more one-on-one instruction throughout the day.

This charter is available only for anglers ages 13 and older. Sheepshead fishing requires patience, concentration, and the ability to detect subtle bites before setting the hook. Younger children typically have a much better experience on my Kids Fishing Charter or Inshore Fishing Charter, while this trip is designed for anglers who want to learn the techniques needed to consistently catch sheepshead.

Everything is included—quality rods and reels, bait (crabs, mussels, etc...), tackle, fishing licenses, bottled water, and expert instruction. Just show up ready to fish.

What is a Sheepshead?

Sheepshead are one of the most popular inshore saltwater game fish along the North Carolina coast. They're easy to recognize by their bold black stripes, human-like teeth, subtle bites, and surprising strength on light tackle.

Can we keep the Sheepshead we catch?

Absolutely. You're welcome to keep any sheepshead that meet current North Carolina regulations. As of this writing, sheepshead must be at least 14 inches (total length), with a daily creel limit of 5 fish per person, per day.

I'll let you know the current regulations before we begin fishing and provide a livewell and a cooler with ice to keep your catch fresh. I don't offer fish cleaning, so please plan accordingly.

What if I've never caught a sheepshead before?

No problem at all. Whether you're trying to catch your first sheepshead or improve your technique, I'll show you how to fish around structure, detect subtle bites, and improve your hook-up ratio. Many of my guests catch their first sheepshead on this trip.
